As part of a planned programme of major investment at its main production facility in Cavaion, Italy, leading side loader manufacturer Baumann has recently opened a brand-new paint facility on the site that increases efficiency in the factory, with potential volume throughput at this stage in the manufacturing process rising by up to 300%.
In the incumbent paint facility, Baumann were limited by the number of vehicles that it could put through the system, often causing bottleneck in the flow rate. With the new expanded paint shop, Baumann can now complete the finished painting of at least three side loader trucks per day to meet the increase in demand for its products worldwide.
Says Jason Reynolds: “Not only has this new paint shop increased manufacturing throughput, but also the quality of the final paint finish is far superior because of the rigorous temperature and airflow control. It is also possible to paint up to 3 colours at the same time, which again speeds up the process.”
Baumann’s new paint facility consists of three separate paint booths in total with two at a size to accommodate most sizes of side loader and a third, extra-long booth that caters for the larger specification side loaders.
With thermo installed power of 1,200,000 kW, the actual temperature during the paint process is approximately 25°C, whilst during the drying process this rises to approximately 40°C, with the temperature constantly controlled by a central processing unit that changes accordingly, dependent on the external temperature. The facility also has an air filtration efficiency of 98%, whilst the overall paint shop emits a noise level at an impressive figure of less than 80 DBA.
“Without doubt, this new paint shop is an impressive addition to the manufacturing processes here at Baumann, ensuring that, even in an uncertain market place, we as a company continue to invest in our product to ensure that our customers benefit from the highest quality possible,” added Jason.
Baumann is the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel, LPG and electric side loaders, ranging from 3tonne to 50tonne capacity and all are produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Cavaion, Italy. A family company established in 1969, Baumann sells its products worldwide through 106 dealers in 76 countries.
